Submissions
BRAMS is a multidisciplinary academic journal published by the BRAMS Institute in Tbilisi, Georgia. It is a peer-reviewed international quarterly that welcomes original, preferably interdisciplinary research across the social sciences, medicine, humanities, natural sciences, formal sciences, and applied sciences.
Submissions must address at least one of the following areas: American Studies, British Studies, or Kartvelian (Georgian) Studies. The journal’s scope includes countries covered by the Institute’s research, as listed on the Institute website.
BRAMS is published quarterly. Both online (eISSN 2960-9348) and print (ISSN 2667-9299) versions are available in PDF format on the BRAMS Institute and BRAMS Journal websites.
BRAMS operates an open call for submissions seasonally. Authors may submit manuscripts in English or Georgian at any time throughout the year. To submit, authors should prepare a manuscript that demonstrates thorough research qualities and must ensure that it is unpublished and not under consideration elsewhere. Authors should then review the detailed submission guidelines on the publisher’s website. There are no strict deadlines or specific composition requirements. Once ready, manuscripts should be submitted through the online process described in the submission guidelines.
Manuscripts must be prepared in accordance with the guidelines on the journal’s website:
BRAMS follows the Gold Open Access model, funded primarily by author fees (or their institutions/funders). All articles are made available immediately for free access and download at BRAMS Journal and BRAMS Institute. Users may copy, distribute, print, search, and link to full texts for lawful purposes. When citing BRAMS content, include the URL and the DOI.
The following terms govern the publication, licensing, and reuse of all articles appearing in BRAMS Journal. By submitting a manuscript, authors agree to these terms in the event their work is accepted.
Authors retain copyright in their published work. The journal does not require an exclusive transfer of rights. Authors grant BRAMS Journal a non-exclusive license to publish, distribute, and archive the article in perpetuity.
All articles published in BRAMS Journal are released under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0). This permits any user to copy, redistribute, remix, transform, and build upon the work for any purpose, including commercially, provided that appropriate credit is given to the original authors and the source of publication.
BRAMS Journal does not impose any embargo period. Articles become fully open access upon publication of the issue in which they appear, and may be deposited in any institutional or subject repository without delay.
Authors are permitted and encouraged to deposit any version of their manuscript – preprint, accepted manuscript, or published version of record – in any repository of their choice. We ask only that the final repository copy carry the canonical citation and DOI of the published version.
The journal adheres to the guidelines of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) for handling errors, retractions, and expressions of concern. Substantive corrections are published as separate, citable Corrigenda or Errata, and are linked from the original article. In cases of established research misconduct, the article will be retracted with a clear retraction notice that remains permanently associated with the original record.
Authors must ensure the originality of their work and confirm that the manuscript is not under consideration elsewhere. They must cite all sources and comply with ethical standards for human or animal research. Authors must disclose any conflicts of interest and cooperate with editors and reviewers throughout the review process.
Reviewers must provide constructive, honest, and unbiased feedback. They must maintain confidentiality, disclose any conflicts of interest, and refrain from using ideas or text from the manuscript for personal gain.
The Editor-in-Chief, editors, and the editorial board oversee the peer-review process, make final decisions based on reviewers’ reports, manage submissions impartially, and recuse themselves from handling manuscripts where a conflict of interest exists. All manuscripts and review discussions are treated as confidential in accordance with applicable international data protection and privacy regulations. Authors, reviewers, and editors must declare any potential conflicts of interest; failure to disclose conflicts may result in rejection or retraction of the paper.
If authors dispute a decision, they may submit a formal appeal with a clear, detailed explanation. A senior editor who was not involved in the original decision will review the appeal impartially. Complaints regarding ethics or misconduct will be addressed in accordance with COPE guidelines. Authors should consult the Submission page before contacting the editorial office.
Manuscripts should be emailed to [email protected] or [email protected]. Authors are encouraged to contact us with any questions related to their submission or for further enquiries about publication. All correspondence not directly related to manuscript submission should be directed to the editorial office at [email protected].
