Submissions
BRAMS Journal is a fully open access publication. To sustain rigorous peer review, professional editing, indexing and long-term archiving without paywalls, the journal levies a modest Article Processing Charge (APC) on accepted manuscripts. We are committed to equity in access to publication and offer full and partial waivers where authors’ institutional circumstances warrant support.
There is no fee for submitting a manuscript.
On acceptance, authors will be notified by email and must pay a one-time APC of 650.00 GEL / 250.00 USD. This APC covers the costs of e-publishing, including content review, substantive editing, proofreading, formatting, online hosting, indexing and archiving. Payment may be made in GEL or USD at the official exchange rate on the date of the transfer.
The sender must cover all transfer fees so that BRAMS receives the full amount. Please avoid selecting “shared” fees or choosing fees to be paid by the beneficiary. If transfer fees are not fully covered, a second transfer may be required. Additional charges may apply depending on the transfer method.
BRAMS follows the Gold Open Access model, funded by author fees. Between 2020 and 2024, the journal operated as Diamond Open Access to support research and encourage submissions during and after the pandemic.
Authors who wish to receive a print edition must prepay the publication fee and delivery costs, as confirmed by the editorial office. An invoice for these services will be issued separately. Once payment has been received, the relevant issue will be sent to the press for printing and dispatched via courier or post. Each author may request up to five copies of a single issue. Prices depend on publishing and postal/courier expenses, which may vary and change.
Authors based in countries classified by the World Bank as low-income or lower-middle-income are eligible for an APC waiver. Eligibility is determined by the corresponding author’s primary institutional affiliation at the time of submission. In addition to standard country-based eligibility, we consider individual circumstances on a case-by-case basis. Authors who are independent scholars, early-career researchers without institutional support, students, or authors facing exceptional financial constraints may request a discretionary waiver regardless of geography. Waiver decisions are made by the editorial office and never influence editorial review.
BRAMS offers discounts to promote inclusivity for eligible authors:

Submit your waiver request at the time of manuscript submission, or at the latest immediately upon notification of acceptance. Email [email protected] with the subject line “Waiver – Author’s Full Name” and include: (1) your name and institutional affiliation, (2) a brief statement of circumstances, and (3) the journal number in which your manuscript was accepted. We aim to respond within two weeks.
The APC is invoiced only after a manuscript has been accepted following peer review. Payment is due within 14 days of the invoice, and deferred payment plans are available on request. Payment may be made via bank transfer. No editorial decision is contingent on payment status.
Following any applicable discounts, the APC must be paid prior to the article’s online pre-publication. Late payment may delay publication or result in withdrawal of acceptance. For a valid reason, the Editorial Board may agree to postpone an unpaid article to the next issue of BRAMS Journal.
