Abstract

This editorial outlines the founding of the BRAMS Institute (2018), an interdisciplinary centre for the study of Britain, America and Georgia. It explains the Institute’s name, emblem and symbolic palette, and situates its mission within the intellectual lineage of Tbilisi State University. Arguing that American and British studies are mutually implicated and essential to comparative Georgian Studies, the piece justifies an integrated research agenda that addresses historical roots, contemporary geopolitical affinities and cultural diplomacy. BRAMS Institute publishes a bilingual (English and Georgian) quarterly, BRAMS, a multidisciplinary academic journal that aims to amplify Georgian scholarship internationally, foster transatlantic and British links, and promote comparative research to inform policy and public understanding of Georgia’s place in the Western world and contemporary global society.
