The article investigates equality within business, combining philosophical analysis and practical critique. It surveys egalitarian justifications (Christian, Kantian, utilitarian) and clarifies that political equality must target specific goods (income, employment, political power) rather than absolute uniformity. The author evaluates proposals for equal monetary distribution and exposes practical, distributive‑desert and needs‑based objections, as well as the libertarian contention that redistribution violates property rights. Attention then shifts to employment: the meaning of equal opportunity, its role in redressing racial and sexual discrimination, and the contested policy of reverse discrimination. By weighing moral principles against empirical concerns – efficacy, resentment and standards of competence – the study offers a measured defence of targeted egalitarian reforms while highlighting their ethical and practical limits.
