The author examines how criminology can better address global crime by adopting a strategic model drawn from two centuries of medical progress. Through cross‑national academic networks, pervasive connectivity, interdisciplinary consilience, evidence‑based evaluation and proactive public engagement, criminology could move from fragmented responses toward more effective prevention and mitigation. The paper argues these five pillars – tested in medicine – offer a pragmatic roadmap to reduce the severity of contemporary crime challenges, without promising elimination.
