Abstract

This article investigates media plagiarism and copyright challenges in virtual environments, focusing on Georgia’s online press and comparative international law. Drawing on constitutional protections, the US fair‑use doctrine and evolving jurisprudence, the author analyses causes, legal ambiguities and practical effects of unauthorised reuse of text, images and audiovisual material. Special attention is given to emerging risks posed by digital dissemination and artificial intelligence (AI), and to the insufficiency of existing protective mechanisms for authors and performers. The study concludes by arguing for balanced regulatory reform that preserves creators’ rights while safeguarding freedom of expression in virtual reality.
