This article revisits the textual history of The Knight in the Panther’s Skin, recognised as the “Bible of the Georgians”. Tracing its survival from the XI-XII century Georgian Renaissance to the present, the author examines how hand-copying, manuscript damage, and later interpolation complicate the poem’s transmission. Building on longstanding scholarly efforts to clarify the epic, the study presents 100 corrections and accompanying notes, grounded in close textual and stylistic scrutiny. The author positions the project within a tradition of responsible emendation: the proposed changes do not claim absolute restoration of “the truth”, but aim to enhance the work’s artistic value and ensure that any improvements remain consonant with the epic’s established manner.
